For two hours each school day, 10th-grade and EF-level students were able to engage in conversation—in small groups of their own choosing—with theologians, educators, and, above all, with one another.
The focus here is not primarily on the Christian faith or the teaching of values, but rather on exploring questions of meaning, reflecting on one’s own goals and beliefs, and discussing values and ideals.
Religious school weeks are organized jointly by the Evangelical Church of Westphalia and the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Münster. This program is designed to foster a sense of responsibility for oneself and for others.
Markus Mischendahl, team leader of the Religious School Week, offers a positive overall assessment: “We found the Werner-von-Siemens High School to be a place where cultural and religious diversity, as well as different ways of life, are a natural part of everyday life, and where interactions are characterized by remarkable openness, mutual respect, and appreciation.” (Hei)
