At the 3x3 soccer tournament organized by the Westphalian Soccer and Track and Field Association (FLVW) in Reken, the Euregio Comprehensive School was represented by a total of four teams. Two boys’ and two girls’ teams from grades 5 and 6 were registered to compete against numerous schools from the region.

The game was not played according to traditional soccer rules, but rather in the modern 3-on-3 format. In this format, three field players and one goalkeeper from each team face off against each other. The compact playing field, short game periods, and special rules ensure that all players are constantly involved in the game. Due to the frequent ball touches, the quick transition between offense and defense, and the regular change in the direction of play, technical skill, game intelligence, and teamwork are particularly important.
All four teams from the Euregio Comprehensive School played with great dedication and enthusiasm. A special highlight was the success of one of our girls’ teams, which confidently secured first place. As a reward, each player received a high-quality Derbystar soccer ball—similar to the match balls used in the DFB Women’s Cup Final. In addition, every participant received a 3x3 Adidas jersey.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the parents who arranged transportation to Reken and accompanied and supported the students throughout the entire tournament day. We would also like to thank Ms. Richter and Mr. Gausling, who organized the Euregio-Gesamtschule’s participation and supervised the teams.
The successful event demonstrated that soccer can inspire enthusiasm even in new formats and fosters team spirit as well as soccer skills. For everyone involved, the tournament was a sporting success and an eventful day.
