The group visited the university twice: the first time to prepare for the internship and the second time afterwards to reflect on and classify the impressions they had gathered. During the first visit, the students were given detailed information about the degree course. They were also given a tour of the campus, where they were not only able to get to know the modern facilities, but also gain an impression of student life in the Netherlands.
The close integration of theory and practice was particularly valuable: the upcoming internship in the social sector was specifically prepared so that the participants were able to enter their institutions with clear expectations and questions.
The second visit then focused on follow-up work. Together with lecturers from the university, the students reflected on their practical experiences and were able to link these with theoretical approaches from the field of social work. A particular highlight was the presence of representatives from the internship companies, who also took part in the day and enriched the exchange.
Through these two visits, the pupils not only gained valuable insights into a possible future course of study, but were also able to further hone their own professional interests in the social field.
Many thanks to Saxion University of Applied Sciences for the friendly welcome, the informative organization of the two days and the dedicated support. We would also like to thank the participating internship companies for their support and the opportunity to gain practical experience in the social sector.
