Study and career guidance

SBOT 2026

"Today takes a lot of pressure off us," confess Peter Leuderalbert and Paul Beckhelling, both students in year Q1 at the WvSG, making it clear what the Study and Career Orientation Day (SBOT for short) is all about. The opening speaker and former WvSG pupil Frank Sibbing, co-founder of the Münster-based Finne brewery and now project manager for innovation and start-up support at Münsterland e.V., took the same line. He explained that neither educational paths nor professional careers have to be straightforward and predetermined, but that a good school education, such as the Abitur in particular, creates freedom of choice, which in turn makes it possible to rethink, adapt or revise the paths taken. Yella Wölke, also a Q1 student at the WvSG, was particularly impressed by the wide range of advice on offer on a wide variety of careers and training courses: "The presentations today in particular are helping me to plan my future and were very interesting."

After welcoming speeches from the principal Thomas Herden and the mayor Jörg von Borczyskowski, the Q1 students from the Alexander-Hegius-Gymnasium Ahaus, the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Stadtlohn, the Gymnasium Georgianum Vreden and the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium Gronau had the opportunity to find out about study and training opportunities in person at presentations and stands. The idea behind this was that personal information from speakers is often more valuable than information from the Internet. As in previous years, the SBOT Day was held for the 23rd time and universities and universities of applied sciences from the immediate vicinity of the four grammar schools mentioned above were invited, as well as local and regional companies and institutions.

The two organizers Christiane Klockgeter and Jan-Bernd Brewing, teachers and representatives for study and career guidance at the Gronau grammar school, were very satisfied afterwards and said almost in unison: "We hope that today's day has given us plenty of food for thought about our own professional future. There were certainly plenty of opportunities, also thanks to the great support of our school's sponsors' association."

Immediately after the event, Phileas Biebrach, a Q1 student, and Ulf Sauer, a teacher at the WvSG, made it clear that this was definitely the case. Together they discussed Phileas' professional future. (Bus)
