What does my career path look like after school? What opportunities does the region offer? Pupils in year EF (introductory phase of the upper secondary school) received answers to these and many other questions on July 1, 2025 at the 9th regional School and Career Information Day (SchuB) at Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium Gronau.
In recent years, SchuB Day has established itself as a fixture in the school's study and career guidance program. In 2025, numerous regional companies and institutions once again accepted the invitation to give young people practical insights into career prospects.
A wide range of offers and direct exchange
After the official welcome by Headmaster Mr. Herden and the study and career guidance team, the tour of the stations began: the students visited the information stands of the participating companies in small groups. From trades to industry to social professions - the range of offers reflected the economic diversity of the region. Teupen Maschinenbau,
Diakonie Gronau, Sparkasse, Antonius Apotheke, Autohaus Cyran, Antonius Hospital
Stadt Gronau, Nitto ,Finanzamt Ahaus, Agentur für Arbeit and 2G were represented.
"It's great that we can talk directly to training companies here," was the conclusion of one student from the EF.
The company representatives were also very satisfied with the format. "There's no substitute for personal contact with the young people," said one speaker. "We were able to clarify many questions and also discuss internship opportunities."
Networking between school and business
The morning was accompanied by a speaker café in the teachers' library, which gave the company representatives the opportunity to talk to each other and the teachers. Over coffee and snacks, good conversations and new ideas for future collaborations were also generated here.
The SchuB Day is not only an offer for career guidance, but also a sign of the strong network between school and business in Gronau. "Our aim is to show young people concrete paths to their professional future - there are also great opportunities right on our own doorstep," emphasize Christiane Klockgeter and Jan-Bernd Brewing from the WvSG's study and career guidance team.
