Last Saturday, the WRO regional competition took place at the Euregio Comprehensive School in Epe. 13 teams from high schools in Münster, Rheine, Lüdinghausen, Mulhouse, a private team of elementary school students and two teams from the Euregio Comprehensive School in Gronau-Epe had to demonstrate their skills in constructing and programming robots.
The tasks under the motto "Connecting the World" of the World Robot Olympiad were published in January. Since then, children and young people have been preparing with their robots for the regional competition in Gronau.
Waterways, marketplaces, ports, the Internet - all these places connect people. Can these connections be made safer, more efficient and more sustainable? Can robots help us connect the world? The children and young people had to solve symbolic tasks on a playing field (2.50 m x 1.20 m) on these topics, as well as a surprise task that was not published until the day of the competition.
The students from the Euregio-Gesamtschule did so well that one team will be able to compete at the German final in the exhibition halls in Freiburg on June 16/17, 2023. Qualification for this year's world finals in Panama is possible via the German finals.
The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is an international robotics competition that gets children and young people aged 8-19 excited about STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology).
