On site, the pupils were given a direct insight into studying and practical research. In addition to an introduction to the degree courses, the program included visits to laboratories and lecture halls. It became clear how technical issues - such as those relating to water, geology, the environment and infrastructure - are scientifically investigated and solved. During the lunch break, the course took the opportunity to eat in the THGA canteen and experience the university atmosphere.
Afterwards, they went to the German Mining Museum opposite. There, the pupils were able to see how strongly technology, raw materials and the development of the Ruhr region are interlinked in the demonstration mine and the exhibitions.
The day in Bochum combined theory and practice in a vivid way and showed how scientific work can address and further develop specific issues from the region.
