A successful tournament day for the EGS
The team from Euregio-Gesamtschule Epe took part in the preliminary round of the girls' district championships (2012-2014) in soccer for the first time this year, hosting it themselves and putting in a strong performance. The tournament took place at the Vorwärts Epe sports facility. EGS played a total of three games and was able to gain important experience in all of them.
In the first game, the team managed a convincing victory, which ensured a strong start. The subsequent duel against Anne-Frank-Realschule from Ahaus, who later came second, was particularly pleasing. In an evenly-matched encounter, EGS fought for a well-deserved 1:1, showing great willingness to run and good combinations.
The team also played well in the match against the eventual winners from Canisiusschule. Despite the defeat, they managed to score a goal, meaning that the game was completely open at times.
The entire tournament day was characterized by sunny weather, a pleasant atmosphere and a lot of enthusiasm for the sport. The students visibly enjoyed their matches and supported each other throughout. Most importantly, there were no injuries, which rounded off the day on a positive note.
The result was a well-deserved third place. EGS can look back on this achievement with pride and is already looking forward to the next sporting challenges. The supervising teachers, Mr. Feldhues, Mr. Wolbers and Ms. Schröder, were also very satisfied with the commitment and fairness that the team showed throughout the entire competition day. The players were able to gain valuable experience that will strengthen them for future tournaments.
The preliminary round was therefore an all-round successful day of competition on which the EGS team was able to impress both athletically and collectively.
