The pre-Christmas market, which combines elements of an "open day" with a pre-Christmas flair, has always provided a successful framework for exchange, encounters and joint activities. On 28.11.2025, a total of 18 pupils from EGS and the Dutch zone.college Almelo were once again able to showcase their craft creativity: In joint preparations on 24.11.2025, the students baked pepernoten - traditional Dutch treats - at the site in Almelo. The sale of the home-baked specialties met with great demand: all products were sold out within a very short time.
But the preview market was more than just a sales stand: pupils from both schools took the opportunity to get to know each other, practise their language skills and make friends. For many, the visit to the other location was their first direct contact with a school in the neighboring country - an experience that was described as valuable and enriching by everyone involved.
The project impressively demonstrates how cross-border school partnerships are lived and practiced within the EUREGIO. Thanks to the Interreg Germany-Netherlands funding program, supported by the European Union, school education can be experienced interculturally far beyond the classroom.
EGS would like to thank all pupils, teachers and participants for their commitment and looks forward to further joint activities in the spirit of European cooperation and encounters.
