From summer 2025, Liam will live with an American host family and attend high school. The program focuses on cultural exchange: young people from Germany should experience life in the USA first-hand, gain new perspectives and improve their language skills.
Getting there was not easy. After Liam's attention was drawn to the program by a notice in the Euregio comprehensive school, he prevailed against numerous other applicants. Several selection rounds had to be mastered - including a written application, a letter of recommendation from the Euregio comprehensive school, interview rounds, a general knowledge test on Germany and the USA and personal interviews.
The final selection of participants was made by the members of the German Bundestag for their respective constituencies. Jens Spahn, Member of the German Bundestag, will sponsor the student.
Before heading to the USA, there will be a preparatory seminar. The next exciting step is the allocation of host families - then it becomes clear in which state and city the exchange year will begin.
The school is proud of Liam's success and is looking forward to the stories and experiences he will bring back with him after his exchange year.
