At the beginning of the school year 2023/24, a school choir was founded again after several years. Since then, 22 students from grade 6 have been rehearsing a wide variety of songs every week under the direction of Mr. Schenzel; combined with a lot of movement and, above all, a lot of fun. During the last rehearsals, the first challenge came up: two German-Dutch pieces were on the program. But why Dutch?
Since 2019, EGS holds the certificate "Euregio-Profilschule", which is issued annually by the district government of Münster in a ceremonial setting. This year, we were given the special honor of providing musical accompaniment for this certification ceremony. So we went to nearby Winterswijk (NL) to inspire the audience (among them the European coordinator of the EGS Mr. Porschen, teachers of other Euregio profile schools, the district president of Münster as well as the mayor of the city of Winterswijk) - with success! The choir shone with German-Dutch knowledge, animated the audience to clap along and was sent off to thunderous applause. After a short stay in the city (accompanied by the Dutch teacher Mrs. Bittscheid and Mr. Schenzel) we finally went back to Epe by bus.
The school choir thanks for a nice, musical day and is already looking forward to the next performance - probably at the anticipation market of the EGS!
